Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Dedicates Cardiac Catheterization Lab to Delta Community Credit Union
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), recently recognized Delta Community Credit Union, Georgia’s largest credit union, for the credit union’s ongoing support by naming Egleston Hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab for the credit union and its CEO Rick Foley. Sharon Robinson, who manages the CMN program at CHOA, also presented a plaque to Foley recognizing him for his tireless fundraising efforts during his nine year tenure.
Foley said that the credit should go to the credit union’s staff and thanked them for their generous support of charitable organizations like CMN. “We have more than 700 employees at Delta Community and over the years, our employees have volunteered their personal time and funds to support charitable organizations across metro Atlanta,” explains Foley. “We are honored that our donations helped to establish this special cardiac lab for children. It is my hope that our employees will continue to be committed to supporting organizations like CHOA and CMN for many years to come.”
As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, Delta Community stays deeply rooted in the communities it serves by being an active participant and source of support through programs that benefit children both physically and financially. Foley, who is retiring at the end of 2012, has been Delta Community’s president and CEO since 2003. During that time, Delta Community has raised more than $1.6 million for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta hospitals through community-wide fundraisers and generous contributions from board members, employees and members. Delta Community has had a long-standing relationship with CHOA and CNM through the nationwide program, Credit Unions for Kids.

About Delta Community Credit Union
Delta Community Credit Union is one of the largest financial institutions in Georgia. It was founded in 1940 and today serves the entire metro Atlanta area, including residents of the 11 surrounding counties and employees of top businesses, such as Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A, UPS and Racetrac. Delta Community is a state-chartered credit union organized under the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, and its deposit accounts are federally insured through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. It chooses to operate as a not-for-profit credit union so it can give back earnings to its members and their local communities. Unlike a for-profit bank, Delta Community is owned by its members, not individual or institutional investors. Customers become member-owners when they open and maintain an account.
