Bubba Hunter, American Legion Founder, Dies at 70

Cliff R. “Bubba” Hunter Jr., 70, of Powder Springs, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at with Rev. Mike Woods and Rev. Alan Davis officiating.
A lifelong resident of Powder Springs, Mr. Hunter retired as a supervisor from Coats & Clark after 30 years of employment. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a former deacon of the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs. He was also a founding member of the American Legion Post 294.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Hunter of Powder Springs; three children, Paige Hunter Henson and husband Darryl of Powder Springs, Heather Hunter of Powder Springs, and Jeremy Hunter and wife Amanda of Wilmington, NC; two sisters, Myra Nell James of Powder Springs, and Carolyn Joiner of Marietta; two grandchildren, Ashley Henson and Jordan Henson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
