Chugging Through the Barrs' Backyard
The couple constructed a miniature railway system at their Powder Springs home.
Ra Barr, a retiree and former Powder Springs city councilman, and his wife Barbara, an area nurse, recently completed a miniature railway system in their home's backyard.
With some help from the Georgia Garden Railway Society, an organization that they've since joined, they started construction in March. The couple says they plan to do some further landscaping and continue improving the look and lifelikeness of the track.
The overall goal, Ra said, is to "emulate a working railroad."
The train circles around a miniature town that resembles downtown Powder Springs in that it has a city hall, antique store, Book Worm Bookstore, and other buildings.
