1. "Honk!"

Where/When: The Art Place-Mountain View at 3330 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta; Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m.

Why Go: This musical comedy presented by the Mountain View Art Alliance is based on the Ugly Duckling.

2. "Beauty and the Beast"

Where/When: Southern Polytechnic University's Joe Mack Wilson Student Center at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m.

Price: $10 for students, $12 for adults

3. Model Train Show

Where/When: Cobb Galleria Centre at 2 Galleria Parkway in Atlanta; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday

Why Go: In its 14th year, the show will feature more than 260 tables, six operating train layouts, hands-on layouts for children, white elephant table, prizes and free parking. For more information, visit themodeltrainshow.com. 

Price: $8 per person, with free admission for children 12 and under. Admission is good for both days. 

4. Story Time

Where/When: Lithia Springs Library, every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: Story time at the library is interactive and allows children to move around. Along with helping children learn, it also allows them to mingle with others their age. For a photo gallery of a past story time, click here.

5. Pet Adoption Day

Where/When: The Avenue East Cobb at 4475 Roswell Road in Marietta, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: With springs here at last, it's the perfect time to bring in a new member to your family. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue will be waiting on Saturday, rain or shine.
