Shot 5 Times, Canton Woman Dies
A 19-year-old Canton woman has died after being shot five times early this morning, and her 21-year-old boyfriend has been charged with her murder, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.
Just before 1 a.m. today, deputies were dispatched to 370 Pea Ridge Rd. There, they found a wounded Dejanirra Elrod near the doorway of the home, Lt. Jay Baker said. She was transported to Marietta's WellStar Kennestone Hospital where she later died of her injuries.

Final Deportation Hearing for Cruz Today
Jesus Cruz, and undocumented Pebblebrook High graduate, will go to court today for a deportation hearing, which was postponed since May.
Cruz is facing deportation because Cobb County Police arrested him in August 2011 for driving without a license, which he cannot obtain in Georgia as an undocumented resident.

Man Dies of Heart Attack While Breaking Up Dog Fight
Tim Thomas, 49, had a heart attack and died earlier tonight while trying to save a little dog that his own two were attacking, CBS Atlanta is reporting.
The attack happened in Douglas County, on Mitchell Mill Rd.

175th Marietta Campmeeting Underway
One of East Cobb's oldest traditions is having a special celebration this year.
The Marietta Campmeeting, first held in 1837 as a religious revival, marked its 175th anniversary Saturday with festivities designed to tell the story of its history, and encourage current generations to continue the tradition.
