Police: Fatal Wreck Victim Not at Fault
Authorities originally believed a 42-year-old woman who died in an April collision on Austell-Powder Springs Road was responsible, but they have now determined the survivor caused the accident.
Police have determined that the car accident death of an Austell woman in April was not caused by her, as originally thought, but the other driver.
Investigators with the Cobb County Police Department first believed that Adriane Coleman, 42, was traveling north on Austell-Powder Springs Road in her Dodge Spirit when she crossed the center line and struck a Nissan Versa traveling south.
Adriane Coleman died of her injuries, while the southbound driver, 64-year-old Sylvia Coleman of Powder Springs, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The two are unrelated.
But further investigating led police to determine it was actually Sylvia Coleman who cross the center line and caused the wreck.
"I keep wondering, 'Did she see what was about to happen and was she in pain before she died?' This is all horrible," Adriane Coleman's mother, Penny Hall, wrote in an email to Patch.
