Powder Springs Crime Map: Kroger Robbed of Meat; Check Forgery

Editor's Note: Accounts of the these incidents are based on Sept. 1-10 reports from Powder Springs police and what those involved tell police. The numbers match up with the incident locations on the above map.
When: Sept. 5 between noon and 1 p.m.
Where: Kroger on Brownsville Road
A store manager told police a man took $1,274.22 worth of meat, mostly tenderloin steaks and some shrimp, from the store. The subject ran from an employee when confronted. The vehicle traveled in reverse before exiting the parking lot, possibly to avoid revealing a license plate number. Surveillance video didn’t show the suspect’s face.
When: Sept. 6 between 10 and 11 a.m.
Where: United Community Bank on Sailors Parkway
An employee told police that Marvin Kelly presented a personal check for $450 from the account of someone who had reported the check stolen in July. During an interview with police at the Police Department, Kelly admitted to knowing the check was stolen. Kelly was arrested on a charge of fourth degree forgery.
When: Sept. 7 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Where: McDonald’s on Powder Springs Road
A manager told police $500 was missing from the safe. The manager didn’t have any further information.
