Powder Springs Cupcake Shop to Celebrate 1st Anniversary
Lily Torte will offer free samples, raffles and special deals on Saturday in recognition of being open for a year.
The owners of Lily Torte Baking Company will host a celebration on Saturday in recognition of their first year being open in downtown Powder Springs.
“It’s been a challenge,” said Lindsey Hazard, who started the business last summer with her cousin, Erin-Renee Sierra. “They say the first year (for a new business) is the most challenging year, just like with a marriage. But we’re still open and we’re getting busier every day.”
Scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the shop’s Marietta Street location across from City Hall, the celebration will feature free samples, raffle prizes and special deals.
Hazard said that running a new business while she raises three children and Sierra raises two is no easy feat. It was also hard to overcome the loss in foot traffic caused by the downtown closings of the Powder Springs Coffee and Bake Shoppe, Tea at Seven Springs, and the Country Store of Seven Springs.
But the custom orders are thriving, she said, and she and her cousin look forward to continuing to serve sweet treats to the community well into the future.
“We’re really blessed,” Hazard said.
