No Injuries in Powder Springs Fire

The "small" blaze in a home on Country Walk Drive was under control in about 10 minutes.

Firefighters "did a good job" of stopping a "small fire" in a Powder Springs house in about 10 minutes this afternoon, Cobb fire Capt. Ty Mitchell said.

A postal worker driving by saw smoke coming from the house at 3280 Country Walk Drive in the Country Walk subdivision about 1:50 p.m., Mitchell said. The first fire engine worked to extinguish the fire, while the second to arrive confirmed that no one was inside.

In total, three fire engines, a rescue vehicle, and a ladder truck responded, Mitchell said.

The house wasn't severely damaged, he said, but the family will be staying elsewhere temporarily. The cause is under investigation.

For a short time, the fire closed the part of Country Walk Drive from Old Lost Mountain Road to Barnwood Place.

A few neighbors were gathered outside shortly before 4 p.m., and Cobb school children looked on as they walked home from a nearby bus stop.
