Powder Springs Picks Newt Gingrich

The Republican presidential candidate gained the most votes from those living within the city limits on Super Tuesday.

Majority support from Powder Springs voters went to Newt Gingrich at the polls Tuesday, just as it did across all Georgia.

Here are the returns from the three precincts within the city limits:

  • Newt Gingrich: 569 (35.9 percent)
  • Barack Obama: 373 (23.5 percent)
  • Mitt Romney: 288 (18.2 percent)
  • Rick Santorum: 238 (15 percent)
  • Ron Paul: 109 (6.9 percent)
  • Michele Bachmann: 2
  • Gary Johnson: 2
  • Rick Perry: 2
  • Jon Huntsman: 1
  • Buddy Roemer: 1

There are 8,037 registered voters for the three precincts—the Coach Ford Center, the First Baptist Church and Wild Horse Creek Park—and on Super Tuesday, 1585 of them went to the polls. That’s a turnout of almost 20 percent.

All Cobb precinct totals are attached.

Across Georgia, Ginrich took 47.2 percent on Super Tuesday, Romney 25.9, Santorum 19.6, and Paul 6.6.
