Video: Interim Police Chief Sworn In
Maj. Tom Arnold, a 31-year veteran of the Cobb County Police Department, will be working for both departments until the position is filled.
Maj. Tom Arnold, a 31-year veteran of the Cobb County Police Department, was sworn in as interim Powder Springs police chief by Judge Steve Yaklin in front of family, friends and coworkers on Wednesday at the city's Municipal Court building.
Arnold will be working part time for Powder Springs while continuing his full-time job with Cobb County police.
He was recommended by City Manager Rick Eckert and unanimously approved by the City County at Monday's council meeting.
The city has 12 applicants so far for the permanent position. Applications are due by April 29.

Mr Arnold has been politically appointed the Police Chief without even having to apply for the job---the "interim" designation is only a formality. Our police department deserves so much more than a mere POLITICAL appointment! Where is the free enterprise that could have made the department great---instead of just where it has floated for years??
