The city of Powder Springs and its Public Works Department would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the Home Depot Foundation and the Team Depot members from the local Powder Springs Home Depot, located at 1062 Richard D. Sailors Parkway. 

The city owes a debt of gratitude to the foundation and the volunteers from Team Depot and Keep Powder Springs Beautiful, who worked tirelessly on Thursday, May 24 on several improvement projects in the city.

On May 4, the Home Depot Foundation awarded the city of Powder Springs a grant of $1,800 that was intended to be used across the city for beautification projects. 

That money was used to plan a beautification day for areas around the city, including City Hall, Marietta Street, Community Development and the city’s gateway at Lewis Road and U.S. 278. 

Local Team Depot leader Teresa Smith and store manager Shawn Barnes, staff from the Powder Springs Home Depot, members of Keep Powder Springs Beautiful and staff from the Public Works Department spent the day working hard in the hot sun making our city look even better. There are now newly installed flower beds in front of City Hall, adjacent to the Town Square and at the Lewis Road gateway at U.S. 278.

The city greatly appreciates the funds that were made available by the Home Depot Foundation. The city also is indebted to Shawn Barnes and Teresa Smith from the Powder Springs Home Depot. This project would never have happened without their commitment and dedication to our city. 

Finally, the Team Depot volunteers and members of Keep Powder Springs Beautiful provided hours of hard work that are greatly appreciated by everyone in the city.

“The City Council and I are very grateful to the Home Depot Foundation, the Team Depot volunteers and our very own Keep Powder Springs Beautiful volunteers and Public Works staff for their contributions and efforts in bringing these projects to fruition and completion," Mayor Pat Vaughn said. "The collaboration between these groups has helped to beautify our city, and we are truly appreciative.”
