Hawks, Hoyas Hoping for Quarter Wins Tonight

Both West Cobb teams enter the next round of the AAAAA baseball playoffs on hot streaks.

In two rounds of playoff baseball, Hillgrove High has scored 28 runs while only giving up four.

But perhaps the biggest obstacle for the Hawks will come tonight, when the 2011 state runner-up for Class AAAAA will face the team that knocked in 13 runs in the final inning of the final game to steal the state crown—Parkview High out of Lilburn.

Parkview has swept its first two playoff foes on 28 runs to 6.

The Hawks, though, do have a full head of steam headed into tonight's quarterfinal playoff game. They're 25-7 on the season and have won 19 of their last 20, the Marietta Daily Journal reports.

The first pitch of the three-game series is set for 4:30 p.m. at Hillgrove.

Also in AAAAA quarterfinal action tonight is the Harrison Hoyas, who, like Hillgrove, have swept their two opponents in the playoffs. They've done so on 26 total runs to 9, with eight of the latter coming from Cobb rival Lassiter in the second round.

Harrison is 19-11 on the season and has won eight straight, according to the MDJ. They'll be taking on Snellville's Brookwood High, who does come in with one playoff loss against North Gwinnett in the first round.

Overall, the Brookwood Broncos have 30 playoffs runs to 12. They'll play host to the Hoyas starting tonight at 5.

In the other AAAAA quarterfinal brackets, Camden County faces Mill Creek and North Cobb takes on Grayson.
