GreyStone: Sunday Storms Left 13,000 Without Power

Power has since been restored to those affected in GreyStone's eight-county service area. Powder Springs and Highway 120 in Paulding were among the areas hit by the severe thunderstorm and flash flooding.

West Cobb residents were among the GreyStone Power Corporation customers who lost power Sunday due to severe thunderstorms and flash flooding. GreyStone officials on Monday reported that linemen worked to restore electric service to 13,000 members in the wake of Sunday’s weather. Their efforts continued throughout the evening as they worked to fix 22 broken poles and downed power lines. More than half of the 13,000 power outages were in Fulton County, the corporation said. Other areas that were hit hard included Lithia Springs, South Cobb including Powder Springs, and Highway 120 in Paulding. Cobb Food Scores: 2 Restaurants Get Failing Scores

The latest inspections by Cobb Public Health include visits to Cazadores Mexican Restaurant, Gorin's Cafe, Frank's Cajun and Soul Kitchen, Over Look Cafe, Pollo Tropical and Shillings on the Square.

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from a best possible score of 100. A sample inspection form is attached. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points. Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.

Meet KSU's Football Coach in West Cobb

He'll be here May 21.

Kennesaw State University's first head football coach will be in West Cobb. Brian Bohannon will speak at the May 21 West Cobb Business Association Luncheon, which will be held at Lost Mountain Baptist Church. Networking begins at 11:15 a.m., followed by lunch and Bohannon's speech from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 for members of the association and $20 for guests. The luncheon is billed as a "meet and greet" with Bohannon, who was hired nearly two months ago. Since that March 24 announcement, he has hired five staff members for the Owls' inaugural season in 2015. Thousands Attend Business Expo at Cobb Galleria

More than 150 local businesses showcased their products and services Thursday at the Cobb Chamber Business-to-Business Expo.

More than 150 local businesses had to opportunity to showcase their products and services Thursday at the Cobb Chamber Business-to-Business Expo. The free event attracted thousands of attendees at the Cobb Galleria Centre right here in the Smyrna-Vinings area. Cobb Chamber Chairman Greg Morgan said this year's expo has been the largest one the chamber has ever held. Exhibitors included Keep it in Cobb, which encourages residents to buy locally, and business associations from across the county.

There will be more than 150 local businesses with booths at today’s Cobb Business-to-Business Expo, and Patch will be one of them. Companies in Cobb to Fill Jobs

Revenue Management Consulting and RGIS Inventory will be at the Cobb-Cherokee Career Center this week.

Two companies will be at the Cobb-Cherokee Career Center this week to recruit workers. From 10 a.m. to noon today, Revenue Management Consulting will conduct pre-screenings and interviews for an opening at the company that requires a high school diploma and at least six months of call center or customer service experience. Revenue Management is looking for someone to receive payments and prepare statements to the credit department if customers do not respond. The position pays $8.50 to $10 an hour plus commission. Wednesday, RGIS Inventory will interview candidates for its travel team. The company needs someone to take inventory for various clients.
