1. AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY BINGO

Where/When:  at 4181 Atlanta St., Thursday at 4 p.m.

Why Go: Children 8 years old and up will have the opportunity to learn about African-American history in a fun way during Black History Month.

2. WILDERNESS SURVIVAL CLASS

Where/When: at 1750 Mt. Vernon Road in Lithia Springs, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Attendees will learn basic and some advanced survival techniques. They will be taught how to build a fire, make an emergency shelter, navigate and pack a daypack and first aid kit. The class is open to all ages. The park asks that people bring their own lunch. Space is limited, so register as soon as possible.

Pricing: $10 plus $5 for parking

 

3. STORY TIME

Where/When: , every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: Story time at the library is interactive and . Along with helping children learn, it also allows them to mingle with others their age. For a photo gallery of a past story time, .

4. JUNIOR LEAGUE'S RITZY RUMMAGE SALE

Where/When: Hunter Park Community Center at 8830 Gurley Road between Highway 5 and U.S. 278 in Douglasville; Friday's Preview Sale—from 6 to 8 p.m, Saturday—8 a.m. to noon

Why Go: It's always nice to know that what you're buying is going to a good cause. All proceeds will benefit the Junior League of Douglas County's services to women, children and seniors. 

Pricing: $5 Friday, free on Saturday

 

5. SAINT ROSE ACADEMY OPEN HOUSE (Grades PreK-8)

Where/When: 6218 Hospital Way in Douglasville, Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Why Go: If you've been looking into a private education for your children, this a chance to at least see what the school has to offer.
