Did you know that Atlanta has its own castle? Here’s your opportunity to tour Atlanta’s “Castle on Peachtree”, the turn-of the-century home of the Rhodes family.  Lunch will be served on the famous Peachtree Street Porch or in the Parlor or Reception Hall. After lunch our coach will take us “gone with the wind” as we journey down Peachtree Street to visit Margaret Mitchell’s house. Join us for a lovely way to spend a spring day in Atlanta.  Is there a prettier place to be than Georgia in the spring?

Severe Weather is Coming:  Are You Prepared?

March 1st is the beginning of severe weather season.  June 1st begins hurricane season.  Gail Slomovitz from the Metro Atlanta Red Cross will teach us how to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe during this unpredictable weather season.   Discussion will include how to set up a shelter in your home and what supplies you will need. Other topics will include what to do if you are caught outside during dangerous weather.  Preparedness is the key!

Monday, April 16: Dolphin Tale

Here is the inspirational tale of a lonely boy who finds a hurt dolphin that is caught in a crab trap.  He becomes very attached to the dolphin when its tail must be taken off to save its life.  The boy believes the dolphin would be able to swim normally if it was given a prosthetic tale.  This true story touches the lives of everyone who learns about Winter the Dolphin.  Starring Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick, Jr., Nathan Gamble and Kris Kristofferson.

Wednesday, April 18: The Bronte Sisters

Their names are synonymous with some of English literature’s most timeless and celebrated novels.  However, the real-life story of the famous Bronte sisters is steeped in even greater controversy and heartbreak than the lives of their tragic characters.  Come learn about Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte, their novels written under male pseudonyms, and how they didn’t live to reap the financial rewards or public acclaim for their distinguished works.

Shakespeare’s Tavern/Much Ado About Nothing

Love, laughter and Shakespeare, what a lovely way to spend an evening.   Much Ado about Nothing is Shakespeare’s second-famous “battle of the sexes” play.  Will Benedick, the ever confirmed bachelor, admit his love for the equally witty and equally independent Beatrice?  Will the young lovers Claudio and Hero survive the devious meddling of others?  What do you want to bet there will be two weddings in the end and who will say, “I love you with so much of my heart that none is left to protest”?  Dinner at the Tavern is part of our experience.  We will be dining on traditional English Pub food.  Join us for an evening of one of Shakespeare’s best comedies and a wonderful meal.  This isn’t just theater; it is an experience worth attending.

Bottled Water for the Homeless

Every night there are over 7,000 homeless men, women & children on the streets of Atlanta.  Dehydration can be a problem anytime of the year, but it is very serious in the summer.  You can help!  Please donate bottled water to West Cobb Senior Center.  OFH Clothing for a Cause, a nonprofit serving the homeless, will hand out the water in the street this summer.

Osteoporosis: Safety with Exercise & Diet

According to statistics, more than half of all people over age 50 are at risk for bone density problems including osteoporosis & osteopenia.  This lecture, presented by Bev Stegman with Foundation Therapy Centers, provides current interventions for those at risk and the ones that have osteoporosis.
