Beauty Queens on Easy Street

Vanessa Lee and Mary-Pat Hector are here to host  another Teen Reader’s Weekend at the Book Worm Bookstore!

In “The Beauty Queen and the School Nerd”, Vanessa Lee tells the story of Jessica and Amanda, two girls attending the ultra-exclusive Porter Academy in Atlanta. Jessica is a beauty queen with a glamorous life and tons of money while Amanda comes from a lower class home and is the “school nerd”. Get ready to find out what happens when the two girls meet and their secret past is revealed!

And Mary-Pat Hector bring us “Easy Street Ain’t So Easy”. Mary-Pat is a 12 year old playwright, actress and youth advocate. Her first book is entitled, “Easy Street Ain’t So Easy,” and explores the topic of child cruelty. According to Mary-Pat, the production of this work enables her to “be a voice” for other children: “Many people don’t realize that children have problems, too. Adults are not the only ones. I have seen so many children go through challenges without having anyone to be there for them and help make their voices be heard. I want to use my abilities to help them. I will be their voice.” When time permits, Mary-Pat is a contributing writer for My Magazine, a publication for girls. She believes that you are never too young to change the world.
