1. 125th Ohio Civil War Infantry Encampment

Find out what's happening in West Cobbwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/When: The Southern Museum at 2829 Cherokee Street, Kennesaw, (770) 427-2117; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: General Sherman's Army will be returning to Kennesaw! The 125th Ohio Infantry will provide a living history Civil War encampment on the front lawn of the Southern Museum. Musket demonstrations will be performed every hour (timing may be subject to change).

Price: Free with Museum admission - Adults $7.50, Senior Citizens (over 60) $6.50, Children 4-12 $5.50, Children 3 and under Free

 

2. Early Spring Wildflower Hike

Where/When: , Lithia Springs, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Meet in the Interpretive Center. (770) 732-5871.

Why Go: This 2-mile ranger-led moderately strenuous hike will pass through a variety of wildflower habitats and beautiful areas.

Price: $5 plus the Park’s $5 parking fee.

 

3. Spring Chicken Run---A Race Against Hunger

Where/When: Macland Presbyterian Church, Powder Springs, Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Why Go: The 9th Annual Spring Chicken Run includes 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, Spirit Walk and Tot Trot. The event, overseen by Racing Solutions with awards given, benefits Christian Aid Mission Partnership (C.A.M.P.),a local non-profit relief agency serving the West Cobb and East Douglas communities for over 42 years.

Price: 5K $20, 1 Mile $15, Spirit Walk (min. $ 20 in pledges); 5K $25 race day

 

4. Story Time

Where/When: , every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: Story time at the library is interactive and . Along with helping children learn, it also allows them to mingle with others their age. For a photo gallery of a past story time, .

5. Pet Adoption

Where/When: PetSmart, 4794 Jimmy Lee Smith Pkwy. Hiram, 678-567-0583. Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Why Go: With springs here at last, it's the perfect time to bring in a new member to your family.
