Make Your Own Movie at Library

Registration is continuing for teens and tweens who would like to create films for free in Powder Springs on Friday.

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us make our dollars as valuable as possible.  

Here are some deals that hopefully will stretch your dollars to the max:

1. New Seller Registration Underway

Deal: A limited number of new sellers are invited to apply here for the Twice Blessed Consignment Sale at . New sellers also must volunteer for at least one shift.

The church accepts "most items for babies, children and maternity, as well as juniors and young men’s clothing and special occasion dresses." All items must be in good condition, clean, free of offensive odors, and in season, meaning fall and winter items for this sale. A sale for spring and summer items is held in March.

Sellers receive 70 percent of sale proceeds of their items after a $6 seller’s fee goes to the church. Money raised supports children's ministries of the church.

2. Free Residential Appliance Recycling Day in Cobb

Deal: Keep Cobb Beautiful is hosting a free Residential Appliance Recycling Day for Cobb residents on Saturday. Accepted items include washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, gas and barbecue grills, and lawn mowers.

Location: Advanced Disposal Transfer Station, 1897 County Services Parkway, Marietta

Hours: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday

3. Make Your Own Movies for Free

Deal: Registration is continuing for teens and tweens who would like to make their own movies for free at the . Space is limited for this event on Friday. Each participant is asked to bring at least 10 photos or video on a memory stick.

Hours: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday

Location: Powder Springs Library, 4181 Atlanta St.

4. Used Curriculum Sale 

Deal: The Helping Hands Homeschool Used Curriculum Sale is set to take place Friday and Saturday in Acworth. Some items will be sold at half price on Saturday. Cash and local checks are accepted.

Admission is free. Children of shoppers are welcome as long as they are well supervised.

Location: Hillcrest Baptist Church, 6069 Woodstock Road, Acworth, one block off Ga. 92

Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday; 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday

5. Book Collection, Book Sale for the Dog River Library

Deal: This sale to benefit the new will include 50-cent paperbacks and $1 to $3 hardbacks. Also, donations will be accepted of new and gently used books for the library collection and used books for resale to benefit the library. This new Douglas County library is scheduled to open in the fall.

Location: Parking lot in front of Eva's Bake Shop, 6880 Douglas Boulevard, Douglasville

Hours: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday
