1. TOUR OF HEIRWAY CHRISTIAN

Where/When: 6758 Spring Street in Douglasville, Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Why Go: Heirway Christian Academy is offering a guided tour and informational session. The school is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission and admits K-3 through 12th grade students. Meet the faculty, tour the facility and learn what Heirway has to offer. 2. 'SOUNDER' THE MOVIE

Where/When: The East Marietta Library at 2051 Lower Roswell Road, Monday at 6 p.m.

Why Go: The movie is based on the book about a young African-American boy and his family, which lives in poverty in the South during the 19th century. For more information, call 770-509-2711. (Information from Cobb County's website.)

3. AFRICAN-AMERICAN STORY TIME

Where/When: East Cobb Library at 4880 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta, next Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Why Go: Help celebrate Black History Month with your kids by enjoying some story time. (Information from Cobb County's website.)

Pricing: Free

4. TENNIS CLASSES BEGIN

Where/When: Tennis courts across Cobb County, including those at in Powder Springs; spring classes start Monday.

Why Go: Tennis is a great sport that physically and mentally challenges children in various ways. For forms and additional information, click here.

Pricing: $48 per 1-hour session for six weeks ($73 for out-of-county residents); $24 for toddlers per half-hour session for six weeks ($49 for out-of-county residents)

5. BIRD CONSERVATION WORKSHOP

Where/When: Cobb County Water Quality Lab at 662 South Cobb Drive in Marietta, Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Our Shared Forests is Ecuador and Georgia's migratory bird partnership through integrated conservation, bird monitoring and environmental education. In both Ecuador and Georgia, it aims at creating awareness about 10 bird species that migrate between both regions.
