Races for good causes, arts for bettering a school, a musical about tolerance—it's all happening in the community today, Saturday and Sunday.

Calvary Children's Home Celebrates 45th Anniversary

What: The children's home in Powder Springs will be celebrating its 45th birthday with an event including barbecue chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, rides, music and more. The community is invited.
When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: , 1430 Lost Mountain Road, Powder Springs

Performing for the Dream

What: "" is Hillgrove High School's annual fundraiser featuring the visual and performing arts of its fine arts students. Refreshments from Southern Hospitality will be served. will be held in conjunction with the program. Proceeds will go to the Hillgrove Foundation. The organization's initial project is , as Hillgrove is the only Cobb public high school without them.
When: Sunday, starting at 2 p.m.
Where: , 4165 Luther Ward Road, Powder Springs
Cost: $20 (purchase online so your tickets will be at will call)

Run for the Ages

What: The first annual , hosted by the Powder Springs Woman’s Club, will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and the club’s scholarship program, which provides two students a year with financial assistance for college. Events include a 5K run and a one-mile fun run.
When: Saturday, starting at 7:30 a.m. (arrive early if not registered)
Where: , 4181 Atlanta St., Powder Springs
Cost: $25 the day of the race

Tapp Middle Presents Honk Jr.

What: The middle school's Drama Club will be performing the musical Honk Jr. Honk is a musical of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Ugly Duckling with a message about tolerance. In 2000, it won “Best Musical” in London. Honk Jr. is a shortened version of the musical aimed toward younger audiences.
When: Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m.
Where: , 3900 Macedonia Road, Powder Springs
Cost: $5

Trinity Chapel Run/Walk

What: The Booster Club will host to raise funds for a multi-purpose athletic field that will allow for expansion of the school's athletic program. Following the race, there will be food, children's activities and more.
When: Saturday, starting at 8:30 a.m. (arrive early if not registered)
Where: , 4665 Macland Road, Powder Springs
Cost: $25 for the 5K; $20 for the mile run/walk
