West Cobb Road Work Updates, June 24-28

Check out the latest updates on road constructions, delays and detours around West Cobb and other parts of Cobb County.

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around West Cobb and across Cobb County, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation.


Road Resurfacing

Expect delays on the following roads as asphalt paving operations are scheduled Monday through Friday. One lane will be open at all times.

·       Paces Ferry Road from Paces Mill Road to the Fulton County Line

·       Windy Ridge Parkway (night work) from Powers Ferry Road To Windy Hill Road

·       Terrell Mill Road from Cobb Parkway (US41) to Powers Ferry Road

·       Windy Hill Road from Powers Ferry Road to Wildwood Parkway

Cooper Lake Road Sidewalk Construction

Laurel Springs Way to South Cobb Drive: Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Frida. One lane will remain open at all times.

Concord Road Construction

South Cobb Drive to Atlanta Road: Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times. 

Evelyn Street: The intersection with Concord Road is permanently closed after work starts.

Paper Mill Road Bridge Replacement

Paper Mill Road Bridge at Sope Creek is closed through Oct. 25. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to National Park Service trails. A signed detour route is being provided during construction. 

I-285 Top-End Resurfacing

Expect delays as Georgia DOT continues working on a $56 million resurfacing project on I-285. Crews will resurface 10 miles of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Ashford Dunwoody Road in DeKalb County. Most work will take place nights and weekends. The project is scheduled to complete in August.

Lower Roswell Road Construction

Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway

Expect delays and lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with one lane open for your commute.

Willow Point Pkwy to Timber Ridge Road

One lane will remain open for commute from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Little Willeo Road

Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, from Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass. One lane will remain open.

Floyd Road Construction

Clay Road to Hicks Road: Expect periodic lane closures 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with one lane remaining open.

Pedestrian Access: Temporary sidewalks are in place are to assist pedestrians while crews install new sidewalks along the east side of Floyd Road. All existing CCT bus stops will be maintained during construction.

County Services Parkway Sidewalks

Expect periodic lane closures with one lane remaining open in both directions between Austell Road to Powder Springs Road.

Hopkins Road Bridge Replacement

Hopkins Road at Wildhorse Creek Bridge will be closed through July 29. A signed detour route is being provided during construction. 

Cobb DOT staff is working to replace the existing, substandard, weight-restricted bridge on Hopkins Road over Wildhorse Creek. In addition, pedestrian accommodations will be enhanced with the extension of the sidewalk on the west side to connect to the Silver Comet Trail. 

This is a joint project between the City of Powder Springs and Cobb County.

Church Street/Mableton Elementary Sidewalk Construction

Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues clearing, installing storm drainage, placing concrete curb and sidewalk and water relocation.

Brookwood Drive Sidewalk Construction

Silver Comet Trail to Anderson Mill Road: The contractor will continue installing storm drainage and continue utility relocation.
