Wheels, Wings and Weigh-ins

Hiram kick-starts the weekend with a car show that includes America's favorite party food, wings.

1. It will be dry and partly cloudy today with mid-60s highs and lows in the high 40s. Rain chances return for Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid- to low 50s.

2. The Historic Downtown Businesses would like to invite you to Hiram's 1st Wings N Wheels Car Show on Saturday, from 3 to 7 p.m. It promises to be a fun afternoon of fantastic cars, good music, great food, and, of course, awesome shopping. 3. The reconstruction of Clarkdale Elementary School, ravaged by floodwaters in 2009, was approved unanimously Thursday night by the Cobb County school board. Read all about it.

4. Later today we have a story about a contest between faculty and staff of and rival . But instead of running up the score, the goal is shedding pound. April 1 is the final weigh-in. Stay tuned to Patch for which school wins the biggest loser prize.

5. Speaking of being overweight, today is American Diabetes Alert Day. Diabetes is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States.
