"Not So Scary Fairy Tales" at UWG

A spectacular children's production at the University of West Georgia’s Townsend Center for the Performing Arts combines theater and a fantastic maze.

Great works of children's literature come to life: a magical kingdom, the Snow Queen, a fiery dragon, a wolf, and Scheherazade's Arabian Nights.

“Fairy Tales” runs Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 25, 27-28. Group tours begin at 6:30 p.m. and continue until 9:00 p.m.  On Saturday, Oct. 29, tours begin at 4:30 p.m.  Tours are sold in blocks by the half hour with limited capacity.

The show is designed, costumed and built by children, teens and adults from the communities of west Georgia along with UWG students.

Unlike other shows at the Townsend, this is a forty-member cast of local actors, both young and old.  The rest of the season's performances feature professional artists from around the country and beyond.

Carrollton resident Jenny Lyle, known throughout the community as a theatrical director for youth productions, once again leads the way.

Lyle works with the cast for six weeks to prepare them for the acting and physical challenges of working inside a maze for more than three hours each night.
