ATLANTA VIDEO PRODUCTION. HOW WESTJET WENT VIRAL.

Today we applaud the imagination and sheer genius of WestJet.  The creative team at WestJet has managed to turn the bah humbug task of everyday flying into a Christmas miracle, and in the process they've created a viral marketing campaign that would make The Grinch smile (one too many Christmas puns?)

WestJet spokesman Richard Bartrem discussed the project on FoxNews.  "This year, we wanted to turn our holiday campaign into a tradition by doing something that's never been done before," he said.

"Inspired by the notion of real-time giving, we wanted to surprise our guests with meaningful, personalized gifts when they least expected them," he told Fox.  "Being able to show our guests how much we care with gift-giving, a tried and true holiday tradition, resonates with WestJetters as much as our guests," he added.

Airline bosses also promised to donate flights to families in need through the Ronald McDonald House Charities if 200,000 people watched the video.

So far, the clip (below) has been seen more than 8 million times.  (It had only been viewed 6 million times when we saw it at 9:00 this morning! - THAT'S VIRAL MARKETING)  Of course, the video is a cleverly disguised marketing stunt, but the end result is highly effective and leaves a warm fuzzy feeling on your insides.  You might even get a little teary-eyed; of course that didn't happen to us ... no, no, no, not at all (can you tell we're lying?)

Now, on to the video -  watch it, here!  Kudos, WestJet!
