Everyone in the community is invited to next month’s groundbreaking ceremony for Powder Springs’ new gun and archery range.
“The more the merrier,” said Bert Brown, business development manager for the Acworth-based EGAD Architectural and Engineering, which specializes in gun ranges.

Brown originally hoped to have the $3.5 million facility finished by this month after receiving the City Council’s approval in November 2011, but .
“It’s been a long-time coming,” he said. “Everybody’s excited.”
Depending on the weather and other factors, the range could open either before Christmas or after the New Year, Brown said.
A project was previously planned for the site, so the property has been cleared, Brown said, adding a hurting economy knocked off those plans.
The roughly 20,000-square-foot facility will be one of only four ranges in the area. There will be 16 shooting lanes, a 35-yard archery range, firearm sales .
Those wanting to sign up for pre-opening memberships at a discount should call 770-974-6888 or visit the range’s website.
