New Powder Springs Boutique to Offer Gently Used Women's Clothing

The owners of Petal's Rose, Petergaye and Dwayne Rhodes, are shooting for a June opening.

A professional look for women at an affordable price.

That’s the theme Petergaye and Dwayne Rhodes are aiming for with their new Powder Springs store, Petal’s Rose, set to have a soft opening at the beginning of June, followed by a grand opening a month later.

It’ll be a boutique and consignment store that offers gently used women’s clothes and accessories. The objective is “dressing the lady from head to toe,” said Petergaye, who will run the store and co-own it with Dwayne.

“We’re being very selective about the merchandise that we get because we want to maintain the upscale look and feel with the affordable price,” she said, adding a couple vendors have already shown some interest in consignment.

There will also be a limited selection of home décor.

The couple has been married for 17 years, living in Powder Springs for six, and is raising four children in local schools.

They came up with the idea for Petal's Rose after being laid off right after one another about nine months ago. Dwayne has since found work as an auto finance manager, while Petergaye has been putting her focus on the new venture.

With the move away from suits and toward business casual in the workplace, the store will focus on the latter but still offer both. The clothes will target those 25 and older, and will range in size from 0 to 24.

As they stand now, the hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, but the Rhodes said they'll adjust depending on customer demand.

The Powder Springs City Council is set to vote tonight on giving Petal's Rose the go-ahead.

Under their company Rhodes 6 Enterprises, the couple wants to branch out to other cities and eventually other states. They feel their location for the first store, the strip beside on Sailors Parkway, will provide for prime visibility.

“If you live in Powder Springs, you’re coming down this street at one point,” Dwayne said.

Petal’s Rose will be in the slot to the left of the Powder Springs Wine & Spirit Shoppe and to the right of what will soon be a nail salon. The other current tenants of the strip are , and a chiropractic office.

With the strip being built about three years ago, all are original tenants, the Rhodes said. Those interested in leasing the remaining spaces should contact Roberts Commercial Real Estate Services at 770-840-9395.
