Postal Service Emails May Have Viruses

The fake messages contain information about an attempted or intercepted package delivery.

Warning: If you get an email about a package delivery, be careful because it may contain a virus.

The fake emails may seem like they're coming from the U.S. Postal Service, according to a news release from the company. In the emails is fraudulent information about an attempted or intercepted package delivery.

Also within is a link that, when opened, installs a malicious virus that can steal personal information from your computer. Recipients are instructed to not click on the link.

Simply delete the message without taking any further action, the release says. The postal service is working to resolve the issue and shut down the malicious program.

Anyone with questions about a delivery or wish to report spam is asked to call 1-800-ASK-USPS.
