Large hail and isolated tornadoes could be generated by the storms that are forecasted to move through Georgia on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

“Isolated tornadoes will be possible along the leading edge of the activity where the strong storms coincide with the favorable winds,” a “hazardous weather outlook” from the weather service reads.

Cobb and Douglas are among many Georgia counties listed in the outlook.

North Georgia has the highest probabilities for hail and tornadoes, according to the weather service.

The storm system is expected to gradually spread across Georgia throughout the afternoon.

Another storm system is predicted to move in late Saturday and into Sunday. The weather service said it will release more details on that storm as they become available.

Along with predicted showers and possibly severe thunderstorms for Monday, the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for many Georgia counties, including Cobb and Douglas.

The storm, which is forecasted to move on sometime overnight, could bring between a quarter and a half of an inch of rainfall.

Winds are predicted to be between 20 and 25 mph, with some gusts climbing to 35 mph.

“The strong winds may knock down tree limbs and displace small objects,” the National Weather Service advisory says. “Secure loose outdoor items. In addition, driving may become difficult, especially in high-profile vehicles. Use caution while driving.”

The wind advisory is in effect until 7 p.m.
