Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory

Cobb and Douglas are two of the many counties in North and Central Georgia that could see heat indexes of between 105 and 110 degrees.

The heat index could climb between 105 and 110 degrees today, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for Cobb, Douglas, and several other North and Central Georgia counties.

Cobb County schools announced last week that until further notice, outdoor practices must either be held before noon or after 6 p.m. because of the heat.

Patch has left a message with Douglas County schools' athletic director to see whether outdoor practices will be affected by the advisory and will post the update when it's available.
