American Legion's Memorial Day Ceremony

Powder Springs' American Legion Post 294 is set to conduct its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30 at noon. The ceremony will be at the Powder Springs Veterans Memorial at the .  

In case of bad weather, the ceremony will be held indoors at the center's .
 
The program will feature the Color Guard, patriotic music and proceedings, a keynote speaker from the North Georgia Military College, comments from Mayor Pat Vaughn and the laying of a wreath in honor of fallen comrades.
 
The Powder Springs Veterans Memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day in 2001. The monument was built using public and private funds following the idea from the American Legion. Post 294 and Powder Springs jointly care for the monument and the surrounding grounds. 
 
At 2 p.m., weather permitting, the post will also conduct a flag retirement ceremony at its 3282 Florence Road facility.
