American Legion's Veterans Day Ceremony

A ceremony commemorating Veterans Day will be conducted on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11am by American Legion Post 294 of Powder Springs at the Powder Springs Veterans Memorial.  The memorial is located in front of the  at 4181 Atlanta Street, Powder Springs, GA.  This day will be the 10th anniversary of the dedication of the memorial in 2001.  The keynote speaker will be USMC 1st Sgt James Watson who, as a member of Post 294, was instrumental in the design and building of the memorial.  In case of inclimate weather, the ceremony will be held in the Ford Center Community Room behind the library.  All veterans and the public are cordially invited.  Weather permitting, a Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held at the Post home at 3282 Florence Road at 1:30pm the same day. Citizens are reminded that faded and worn US flags should not be flown, and they can be dropped in the red, white, and blue mail box in front of our building for proper disposal.  Contact person for this event is John Hollner, III at (770) 944-0801.
