The 2013 Hillgrove High School Marching Band took five captions in Class AAAA, three overall awards and were named Grand Champions for the 10th annual Lassiter Marching Band Showcase on Friday, October 11th at “The Frank” on the Lassiter campus.
Hillgrove captured a superior rating in addition to the near sweep of their class captions, besting in Music Effect, Visual Effect, General Effect, Drum Major and Percussion.
They also were selected as overall best in Music, Visual and General Effects for the entire contest, which featured seven bands from the metro Atlanta area, including two other superior-rated bands joining them in Class AAAA-level competition (Collins Hill Screamin’ Eagle Marching Band and East Coweta High School Marching Indians).
The 10th annual Lassiter Marching Band Showcase returned after a two-year hiatus due to construction on their campus. It was the first of three competitions for the Hillgrove Hawks, which will culminate with the Bands of America Super Regional competition at the Georgia Dome on October 26th.
