Powder Springs Schools Participate in Reading Bowl

Kemp Elementary placed first in the elementary division, and McEachern placed second in the high school division.

Thirty-eight schools in Cobb County sent teams to participate in the Cobb County Ruffin Reading Bowl on Saturday.

The Ruffin Reading Bowl was founded by Helen Ruffin, a library media specialist in the Dekalb County School District. Students were given a list of books from the Georgia Children's Book Awards nominees. In a game format, they competed in teams with other schools to test their knowledge of these books.

Kemp Elementary placed first in the elementary division, and McEachern placed second in the high school division. These schools will advance to the regional competition, to be held at the University of West Georgia on Feb. 4.
