Betty Ann Forrest Dies at 75

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday in the chapel of the West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, with Dr. Randy Cheek officiating.

Betty Ann Forrest, a 75-year-old Powder Springs woman, passed away Saturday.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday in the chapel of the West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, with Dr. Randy Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA, with a reception to follow. The family will receive friends Friday at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home in Columbus from 6-8 p.m.

Betty was known as a Christian, mother, nurse, advocate and wife. She began her life loving God, and believed her work as a nurse was her way of ministering to many souls.

Betty believed it was her duty and calling to help in healing the bodies, minds and souls of others. She was passionate about her career as a nurse counselor for many doctors, lawyers, city officials, entertainers, nurses and others. Many of these patients and friends credit her with saving their lives.

Betty was active in advocating for nurses with prior addiction and ensuring the growth and development in addiction recovery through professional groups and programs for Georgia. Through this and her personal life, Betty showed everyone she met her unconditional love, vibrancy in personality, and love of the life God had given her.

Survivors include her husband, Joe David Forrest; three children, JoAnn DeRuiter of Owasso, OK, Christina Petroski of Nashville, and Tim Forrest of Holly Springs, NC; sister, Pam Coffield of Columbus, GA; brother, Jimmy Watkins of Columbus, GA; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
