A memorial service to celebrate the life of a southeast Atlanta man who was shot and killed last week will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 5 p.m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Midtown.
An Atlanta Police Department investigation continues after William James Carter Jr., 30, was killed during the early morning hours of Sept. 13 inside a Clifton Road home off Flat Shoals Road.
Victoria Rickman, 31, was arrested that same day and charged with murder and felony murder. Rickman and Carter reportedly knew one another.
According to a family-placed death notice, Carter was the father to an 8-year-old daughter and was the president and CEO of Marietta-based Georgia Select Insurance Co., which in four years he had grown to include five offices and 30 employees.
Born in Phoenix, Ariz., and raised in Orlando before moving to Atlanta during his high school years, Carter attended the College of Charleston and was active athletically. He is survived by a host of family members including his parents, William James Carter and Caro Chisholm Carter of Marietta.See here for more on Carter and to sign the guest book at Ancestry.com.
