1 Killed, 1 Injured in West Cobb Crash

A 14-year-old boy was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

A 46-year-old Hiram woman was killed and her 14-year-old son was injured Wednesday in a three-vehicle accident in West Cobb.

About 12:53 p.m. Wednesday, Delores Sibert of Hiram was driving eastbound on Dallas Highway when she attempted to make a left turn into the Village Green Shopping Center parking lot, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.

As Sibert attempted to pull into the lot, she turned into the path of a silver 2005 Nissan Titan pickup truck that was westbound on Dallas Highway. The truck struck the passenger side of Sibert's green 1995 Toyota Avalon, Pierce said.

"The impact caused the car to spin and collide with a gray 2004 Toyota Sequoia SUV which was waiting at the traffic signal to turn onto Dallas Highway from the shopping center parking lot," he said.

Sibert, 46, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where she died. Her 14-year-old son, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to the same hospital, but later flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at EglestonAt the time he transported, he was listed in critical condition, Pierce said.

The drivers of the Nissan pickup truck and the Toyota SUV were not injured. They were identified as 35-year-old Desmond Smith of Hiram and 44-year-old Larry Crowson of Marietta.

No charges are expected to be filed, Pierce said.
