Accused Mall Shooter Denied Bond

The in the Cumberland Mall parking lot was a counterfeiting deal gone bad, a police detective testified Thursday.

Rosano Wensly Bundel, 28, of Douglasville and George Tabetando, 29, of Powder Springs met about counterfeit money Nov. 25 but wound up arguing, Detective Kenneth Kromer said during a bond hearing, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and WSB-TV.

Investigators say Tabetando ran, and Bundel chased him down and fatally shot him. Bundel says he killed Tabetando in self-defense.

Bundel was denied bond Thursday, the AJC said.

At first, police didn't have a suspect's name and identified the shooter only as a black male with dreadlocks, wearing dark clothing and having a handgun.

Six days after the shooting, they said Bundel was a suspect, who turned himself in the next day at the advice of his attorney.
