Cobb Auto Burglaries Stretch to Powder Springs

Police have had incidents reported at the city's West Cobb Aquatic Center, as well as in Acworth and Kennesaw.

The Cobb County Police Department is investigating automobile burglaries in Acworth, Kennesaw and Powder Springs that could be connected.

According to investigators, three victims-two females and a male-were at for a sporting event on Sunday when all three of their Chevrolet SUVs were broken into. The windows were knocked out, and various items were taken, including purses, drivers licenses, credit cards, checkbooks, birth certificates, social security cards and cash.

One suspect unsuccessfully attempted to cash a check at a SunTrust bank in College Park on Tuesday (see pictures).

Sgt. Dana Pierce, a spokesman for the Cobb County police, said there have been additional incidents reported at the Northwest YMCA located on Dennis Kemp Lane in Kennesaw and the  on Macland Road in Powder Springs.

Cobb investigators are talking to other jurisdictions in metro Atlanta to find out if there have been similar incidents outside of Cobb County.

Detectives believe the suspects are targeting cars by watching people leave, then breaking into them.

Cobb police recommend citizens not leave any valuable items that cannot be secured at home.
