Crash Kills Powder Springs Man
Alcohol may have played a factor when David Jones, 27, ran off the road and hit several trees along Oglesby Road early Monday.
A Powder Springs man was killed early today when his pickup truck ran off the road and slammed into several trees.
David W. Jones, 27, was driving alone in a black 2001 Ford F-150 just before 3 a.m. when he ran off Oglesby Road near Five Oaks Place in the Powder Springs area, spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said in a news release.
Jones was dead at the scene.

He was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol is being looked at as a possible contributing factor, Bowman said.
It was the second of two fatal wrecks in less than five hours in south Cobb.

An 18-year-old, Eric R. Lynch of Mableton, was ejected from the blue 1983 Honda Civic he was driving when he lost control of the car on wet pavement and slammed into a utility pole off Pisgah Road in Mableton about 10:15 p.m. Sunday.
He was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Lynch also was not wearing a seat belt, Bowman said.
