Crime Chronicle: Burglary at Wendy's

Here are recent incidents responded to by Powder Springs police.

Nov. 3

Burglary—Forced Entry: An employee of the came to the that morning and requested an officer because one of the restaurant's doors had been forced open. A bag from an unlocked safe containing roughly $800 was missing. Police were told that most everyone working at the business knew the safe didn't lock. A separate safe that did work appeared untouched. The general manager arrived and said the security cameras hadn't worked for about two years. The alarm wasn't set the night before, but the general manager said it should have been.

Aggravated Assault/Battery and Cruelty Toward Children: Police were dispatched midday to a dispute at a home in the 4400 block of Lynn Drive. Items found on the scene were taken for evidence, according to a Powder Springs police report. Following an investigation, 41-year-old Michelle Heard (see attached mug shot) was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault/battery and cruelty toward children. There is no further information in the report.

Aggravated Assault/Battery: A mother in the 3300 block of Mustang Drive told police that afternoon that her juvenile daughter slashed her several times on the arm with a knife because she didn't want her daughter leaving their house. The mother said she managed to get the knife from her daughter, and when she did, her daughter left on foot. The whereabouts of the daughter were unknown at the time the police report was written.

Theft and Damage to Private Property: Two people renting a house in the 4300 block of Starboard Drive were evicted and told they had to be out of the home by Nov. 7, the house's owner told police. The owner checked the house on Nov. 5 and found the renters had moved out; stole a lawnmower, blower, edger, hedge trimmers, and other items from the garage and gas logs from the fireplace; and left a hole in a hallway and used cat litter in the dishwasher. 

Nov. 7

Unknown Cause of Death: Officers found the body of Jane Lynn McIntire dead on her bed in the 3700 block of Parks Drive. They were dispatched about 10:30 a.m. for a welfare check after the McIntire's sister called 911 and said McIntire had quit taking her blood pressure medicine and she hadn't spoken with her in two weeks. The body was turned over to the Medical Examiner's Office to determine a cause of death.

Nov. 8

Burglary—Forced Entry: A home in the 3400 block of Ponderosa Lane was broken into while the the victim was sleeping that evening. The burglar entered through the rear window double doors. Stolen from the house were several pieces of jewelry, money, a Verizon cell phone, and a Ruger pistol.
