Crime Chronicle: Arson, Unknown Cause of Death

Here are recent incidents responded to by Powder Springs police.

Oct. 15

Burglary, no forced entry: A woman in the 3900 block of Butner Street told police that a relative also living at the house stole a bedroom set and mattress from a storage building outside. She said he was given a key only to store clothing in the building. When police arrived, the woman called the accused, who said "it was his" and that he had sold it, according to theΒ  report. "She told me that every time he gets 'on that dope' he starts stealing her property and selling it (for) drugs," the report adds.

Arson: Police were dispatched about 1:44 a.m. to the Comet Trail parking lot off Carter Road in reference to a vehicle on fire. When an officer arrived, the vehicle was "fully engulfed in flames," according to the police report. Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was "totally burned" and left on cinder blocks. Police were able to located the owner through the license plate and notify him of the burned vehicle.

Theft: That morning, a man in the 4000 block of Pine Valley Drive accidentally left his attache case by his truck and drove off. When he realized he had left it, he returned about 15 minutes later and it was gone. The man told police that there were checks in the case, and that he told those who had given them to him to cancel the checks.

Unknown cause of death: Police were dispatched about 11:30 p.m. to the 4700 block of Deer Chase in reference to a medical call for Shannon Colleen Dlhosh. The police report doesn't provide any further information into Dlhosh's death. Read her obituary by .
