Crime Chronicle: Aunt Makes Niece Fight

Accounts of the following incidents are based on reports.

Resisting an Officer and Driving with a Suspended License, March 24, Old Austell Road: A man pulled up to a checkpoint, and when asked for his license, he said he never had one. After the man gave a false birthday, police eventually got his correct information and found that his license was suspended because of failure to appear. Vernon Stephens, 27, of Powder Springs, was arrested for driving on a suspended license and resisting an officer.

Theft by Conversion, March 27, 4200 block of Spingdale Circle: A woman told police someone entered the vacant residence she owned through the front door, without forcing entry, and took several items.

Burglary Forced Entry, March 28, 4200 block of Morning Dew Drive: Burglars appeared to have forced into the house through a backdoor. Listed as stolen was a laptop and TV. With her bedroom ransacked, the victim told police she'd let them know if she found anything else stolen.

Assault, March 30, Florence Road: A man who was at the Texaco at Florence Road and C.H. James Parkway told police he was being threatened by another man. The man said the person threatening him is married to a woman he used to date. The person threatening the man left after a station employee asked if everything was OK over the speaker.

Battery—Visible Harm, April 1, 4500 block of Brownsville Road: Powder Springs police were dispatched to WellStar Hospital that night in reference to a person assaulted. The victim said he was in the parking lot of the on the corner of Brownsville Road and Hiram-Lithia Springs Road when a man approached him and hit him twice in the face. He said another person kicked him in the knee. Afterward, the victim drove himself to the hospital.

First-Degree Forgery, April 9, Wells Fargo on Sailors Parkway: Police responded to the bank and arrested Demetricus Humphries for allegedly trying to cash an Indiana woman's check not issued to him for $7,000.

Simple Battery, April 11, 3500 block of Ten Oaks Circle: Police were dispatched to a fight that already occurred. A mother said her 11-year-old daughter had been assaulted. The mother said she left her daughter in the care of a neighbor while she went to the store. When she returned, she found her daughter in the woods with a swollen lip, crying and upset. The daughter said her aunt made her fight another girl, and others were filming and saying they were going to post it to the Internet. The mother said she wanted to press charges against the aunt, 17-year-old Tamara Osborne, and the female who fought her daughter.
