Crime Chronicle: Burglaries, Dog Stolen

Accounts of the following incidents are based on reports.

Burglary, Forced Entry, sometime between Jan. 5-7, 3100 block of Pinto Drive: While the homeowner was away for work, someone entered through the rear door and stole multiple items, including a bicycle and stereo. The homeowner's mattress was also cut open with a steak knife.

Burglary, Forced Entry, sometime between Jan. 5-7, 3300 block of Mooring Drive: A real estate agent told police that an eviction notice had been given to the previous tenants. After the notice was given, someone broke in through the rear kitchen window and stole a hotpoint stove.

Theft by Taking of Less Than $500, Jan. 7, the : A woman told police that during her brother's basketball game, her cell phone was stolen.

Burglary, Forced Entry, Jan. 7, on Brownsville Road: Police responded to a burglary alarm in the early morning. The drive-thru window was partially open, and police climbed through it to make sure no one was still in the business. The report's narrative ends when they found no one inside, saying, "At this time I began my investigation."

Burglary, Forced Entry, sometime between Dec. 13-Jan. 9, 3200 block of Childress Lane: The victim told police that while he was out of the country, someone had broken into his house through a rear window. Multiple items were stolen, and a locked door inside was kicked in.

Theft by Taking/Shoplifting, Jan. 11, on Old Austell Road: Several items were reported stolen: a three-piece Victorian dress, a vest, a suede suit, and a cotton bed spread.

Burglary, Forced Entry, sometime between Jan. 10-12, 3100 block of Florence Road: The glass to the front door of the business had been broken out, and a door inside had been kicked in. Stolen was a refrigerator, a computer, and a van. A Volkswagon Beetle had also been pushed out of a garage attached to the business but was left in the parking lot.

Theft by Taking, Jan. 13, 4000 block of Evelyn Drive: A man told police that a former friend who had given him a dog changed his mind and wanted the dog back. The man told the previous owner that he was welcome to visit the dog anytime. During a visit, the previous owner drove off with the dog. The man then called police, who in turn called the previous owner. After being told the man intended to press charges, the previous owner returned the dog.
