Crime Chronicle: Burglaries, Marijuana

Here are recent incidents responded to by Powder Springs police.

Sept. 8

Burglary: Officers were dispatched to an alarm in the 4300 block of Starboard Drive in the early afternoon. The back door was ajar and the framing was broken. Reported stolen from the house was a 32-inch flat screen TV and a jewelry box with many pieces of jewelry.

Possession of Marijuana: Four male Powder Springs teenagers were charged with possession of marijuana, less than an once, after the substance was found in the car they were in on Starboard Drive near Port Lane. An officer pulled up to the vehicle because the four seemed "startled" as he passed and because of an earlier burglary in the area, according to a report.

Sept. 9

Burglary: A woman told police that her house on the 3400 block of Dogwood Drive had its garage door kicked in, followed by the inside door leading to the house kicked in, setting off an alarm. Nothing appeared to be stolen.

Burglary: A man was staying at his parents' house while they were out of town in the 2800 block of Quarters Lane. While he was at work, someone entered the house. Listed as stolen were a DJ set, three flatscreen TVs, three DVD players, and a Playstation 3.

Monday

Criminal Trespassing: Jasmine Harrison, 18 of Acworth; Bernard Golden, 19 of Austell; and Edward Baker, 19 of Marietta were charged with criminal trespassing after being found by police at a vacant residence in the 3500 block of Forest Hill Road Monday night. Baker was also charged with giving a false name and date of birth. An anonymous person had called police about a suspicious person in front of the house. When they arrived, Baker was outside, and they found Golden and Harrison inside the house.

Thursday

Damage to Private Property: A woman told police Thursday evening that juveniles had shot her house several times with a BB gun in the 3500 block of Ten Oaks Circle. Police saw holes in the siding.
