Crime Chronicle: Martin's Employee Takes Deposits

Here are recent incidents responded to by Powder Springs police.

Accounts of the following incidents are based on reports.

Theft by Taking, Jan. 9-10, at 4088 Austell-Powder Springs Road: An employee of the restaurant told police that Richard Rubisch, a 53-year-old Hiram man, stole $3,737 in deposits. The employee said she had security footage showing Rubisch (see attached mug) holding the deposits, but they weren't turned into the bank. She said he had stole $4,273 in deposits before, but no charges were made as he paid the money back.

Rubisch was fired Jan. 13. Jail records show him being arrested Feb. 1 and being in custody three days.

Stalking, Jan. 17-18, 3000 block of Brooks Lane: A Powder Springs woman said she had been stalked for several months by a man. Police told her how to get a restraining order.

Aggravated Assault with a Gun, Damage to Property, Jan. 18, 1300 block of Paddocks Way: Police were dispatched about 6:30 a.m. on a shots fired call. They weren't able to find anything as they checked the area but were radioed to Paddocks Way, where someone said they had damage to their house and vehicle. The report's narrative ends there, saying, "This is where my investigation begins." It doesn't list anyone as being arrested.

Burglary, Jan. 18, 3500 block of Ten Oaks Circle: While home alone, a male said he saw three young males he didn't know from the top of the stairs. Once they saw him, they ran. The house was ransacked, with several electronics moved toward the front door. There didn't appear to be any forced entry.

Theft by Taking, Feb. 2, : A Powder Springs man told police his bike had been taken from in front of the library.

Theft from a Car, Feb. 2, 3200 block of Florence Road: A man told police someone entered his Honda Accord and stole a diamond ring.

Theft by Taking, Feb. 7, 3400 block of Red Wood Forest Lane: A woman told police that her child's father came to the house. Stolen was $500.

Unauthorized Use of Drugs, Feb. 7, on Sailors Parkway: Shannon Pritchett, a 36-year-old Powder Springs woman, allegedly tried to fill a forged prescription.

Theft by Taking, sometime between Nov. 1 and Feb. 10, 4000 block of Evelyn Drive: A man told police that his 24-year-old daughter stole several items—including jewelry and an ATM card—while she and her husband were staying with him. Though she moved out, the man thinks his daughter has a key and has taken other items.

Theft by Taking: between Feb. 13-14, 5000 block of Hopeland Drive: A man said his iPad 2 was stolen from his house, possibly during a get-together.
