Crime Chronicle: Rider Grabs Driver's iPod and Runs

Here are recent incidents responded to by Powder Springs police.

Accounts of the following incidents are based on reports.

Auto Theft, Feb. 7, 3100 block of Blue Heron Pass: A Powder Springs woman told police that she and a man arrived home from shopping, and when she went inside to drop something off, he drove away with her Jeep Grand Cherokee. She called him, and he said he'd be right back after going to the store. Since that call, she said she hasn't been able to reach him. Police entered the car into the system as stolen.

Breaking into Car, Feb. 15, : The vehicle was left unlocked, but the owner said it didn't appear that anything was missing.

Burglary, sometime between Jan. 28 and Feb. 16, 4100 block of Glenn Street: A man told police that several tools were stolen from his outside shed.

Burglary, Forced Entry, Feb. 15, 4700 block of Country Cove Way: A man told police his rear door was kicked in while he was away from his home but nothing appeared missing.

Burglary, Forced Entry, Feb. 16, 3100 block of Blue Heron Pass: Police responded to an alarm at the house, where someone had forced their way into the house through a rear second-story window. The report's narrative ends there, saying "This is where my investigation begins."

Burglary, Forced Entry, Feb. 18, 4200 block of Akins Ridge Lane: Police were dispatched to a residential alarm. The house's backdoor had been kicked in. Nothing appeared missing, but police advised a family member of the homeowner to contact them if anything had been stolen.

Theft from a Car, Feb. 20, 3800 block of Macedonia Road: The car's owner told police her purse and cell phone had been stolen from her car, which had a door that didn't lock. There didn't appear to be signs of forced entry. Someone found her purse, which contained her cell phone, on Forest Hill Road. Missing from inside was about $500.

Theft from a Car, Feb. 20, : The two victims said their wallets were stolen from their car.

Theft, Feb. 21, Lancer Drive: A man said he was giving a ride to three males, and while they were getting out, one of them grabbed the man's iPod and ran into the woods. The man wasn't able to give police many details about the males.

Theft, Feb. 24, Brownsville Road parking lot: A woman said her license plate was stolen from her vehicle.

Residential Burglary, Feb. 24, 4000 block of Sharonwood Drive: A man said his his 42-inch TV and remote control had been stolen. There weren't any signs of forced entry, and the man said he believed someone in the neighborhood stole the items.

Business Burglary, Feb. 24, Fred's on New Macland Road: A rear door appeared to have been pried open and copper water pipes, wires and electrical parts appeard to have been removed.

Theft, sometime between Feb. 17-25, 4100 block of Austell-Powder Springs Road: A man said his license plate had been stolen from his van.

Theft from a Car, between Feb. 24-25, Hiram-Lithia Springs Road: A man said his cell phone was taken from his unlocked truck.

Burglary, Forced Entry, sometime between Feb. 12-26, 4400 block of Birch Brook Path: The owner said a stove, refrigerator and diswasher were stolen from the vacant home. Forced entry was made through a rear door.
