Dallas Hwy. Crash Critically Hurts Girl

A Kennesaw driver was trying to turn into a West Cobb shopping center.

A 12-year-old girl was critically injured in a West Cobb car crash on Dallas Highway on Saturday afternoon.

The girl was in the back seat of a black 1990 Nissan Maxima driven by Joab Kunin, 63, of Kennesaw, said. Kunin tried to turn left from westbound Dallas Highway into the shopping center, across from Bob Cox Road, at 5:25 p.m.

But an orange 2005 Chevrolet Colorado, driven east on Dallas Highway by 23-year-old Jacqueline Waters of Powder Springs, hit the Maxima.

Kunin, Waters, and a front-seat passenger in the Maxima, Jacqueline Keaton, 51, of Atlanta, were taken to in Marietta with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The 12-year-old girl was flown to in Sandy Springs in critical condition, and an ambulance took a 10-year-old girl who also was in the back of the Maxima to Scottish Rite with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Cobb police Selective Traffic Enforcement Program unit is investigating the crash and expects to file charges.
