Dallas Man Shot in Face
A Powder Springs police report indicates that Lorelle Gibert survived the incident, which happened in the area of Misty Morn Way and Morning Side Drive.
A Dallas man was shot in the face on April 27 in the area of Misty Morn Way and Morning Side Drive, and as he attempted to drive away, he lost control of his car and wrecked into the woods.
A report indicates that Lorelle Gibert survived the incident and was transported to Grady hospital.
Police were dispatched about 8:20 p.m. on a call of shots fired, the report says. Someone from the Cobb County 911 Communications Center said “several complainants” saw multiple black males with dreadlocks wearing white shirts running from the area.

An officer first met with Gibert at 4140 Misty Morn Way (see map at right) and called for medical personnel.
Because of his injuries, Gibert, who was in the driver’s seat of a car when he was shot, could not say much, the report says. A passenger, JT Freeman, said the two had come to the neighborhood to drop his brother’s friend off.

Freeman told police that when his brother’s friend was out of the car and Gibert started to drive out of the neighborhood, Gibert said: “Get down, there’s going to be trouble.”
Freeman said the “next thing he knew, he heard a shot and Mr. Gibert was hit,” the report says. Gibert tried to drive off but lost control of the car and wrecked in the woods, Freeman added.
The two ran not knowing if they were being chased, then stopped to ask for help, the report says.
Freeman said he didn’t see anyone or a car, didn’t know anyone in the area, and couldn’t provide a name of his brother’s friend.
Police called Paulding County’s 911 center to see if Gibert’s family could be reached. No one picked up at the residence listed for Gibert.
Freeman indicated on his Facebook wall the day after that Gibert was awake but couldn’t talk or have visitors. Later that day, he made another post saying he was able to talk with Gibert.
