Dallas Man Suspected in Cobb Burglaries

Kevin Duane Duckworth was arrested on charges that include seven counts of burglary.

A Dallas man is behind a string of thefts in Powder Springs, according to the police department in that city.

From nearly two weeks, Kevin Duane Duckworth allegedly went into new homes that were for sale or under construction, and removed dishwashers, microwaves, stoves, light fixtures, construction materials and more. 

The thefts, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant, began between 5:30 p.m. April 4 and 9 a.m. April 5 at a home in the 5100 block of Vansant Trail. A dishwasher was removed from that home.

Subsequent thefts:

  • at 10:46 a.m. April 5 at another home in the 5100 block of Vansant Trail. A microwave and a gas stove were removed from that home;
  • between 5:30 p.m. April 7 and noon April 8 at a home in the 3100 block of Staglin Drive. A dishwasher, a microwave and a gas stove were removed from the home;
  • between 5:30 p.m. April 7 and noon April 8 at a second home in the 3100 block of Staglin Drive. A dishwasher, a microwave, a gas stove and a scanner were removed from the home;
  • at 8:25 a.m. April 12 at a third home home in the 3100 block of 3100 Staglin Drive. A dishwasher and a microwave were removed from the home;
  • between 7:20 p.m. April 15 and 10:22 a.m. April 16 at a home in the 1700 block of Cedar Mill Lane. A window, a gas log fire place insert, two doors and 15 boxes of decorative stone were removed from the home;
  • and at 10:10 p.m. April 15 at a fourth home in the 3100 block of Staglin Drive. Sink fixtures, a dishwasher, a microwave, a gas stove, a front door, a dead bolt/door knob, a foyer light fixture, a dining room light fixture, a ceiling fan and a breakfast room light fixture were removed from the home.

Authorities executed a search warrant on Duckworth's Dallas residence, where they found most of the stolen items, according to the warrant. He was arrested on charges that include seven counts of burglary in the first degree.

Duckworth is being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
